KROG and BWB Plan New West End Mixed-Use BuildingJamestown, NY- The Krog Corporation announced plans today to construct a new 48,000 square foot Class-A office building at the corner of Third and Lafayette Streets in Jamestown. The three story structure will become the new home of Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C. and the Vineyard Group, LLC, Jamestown’s leading accounting, payroll and management consulting firms.
Peter Krog, the firm’s founder and chairman said, “We are pleased to continue to invest in Jamestown. This project will be our third in the area over the past two years and provides a stepping stone to further development in Jamestown and the Southern Tier. We are especially excited to be working with BWB and to collaborate with the City. Our firms have a shared vision for the future of downtown Jamestown which is consistent with the Urban Design Plan. This Project will be a catalyst for improving the entire downtown core.”
BWB, the largest CPA firm in NY’s Southern Tier, is celebrating its 30th year in the Jamestown area, while its affiliated consulting firm, the Vineyard Group is in its fourth year of operation. “We have always been committed to the downtown Jamestown area and the firm is very proud of the many positive and wide ranging contributions that the BWB family has made and will continue to make in our community”, said Kristy Zabrodsky, a Shareholder at BWB. Thomas Benson, Managing Director of the Vineyard Group added, “The significant growth and development that we have experienced over the years is a direct result of our absolute commitment to delivering top quality professional service to our clients by investing in the best people, the most rigorous training programs, and state of the art technology and facilities. Our long term involvement in this exciting project will provide the backdrop for the continued growth that we are planning and clearly exhibits our steadfast commitment to our clients and the community.”
The Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency voted today to designate Krog as the developer of the West End Site. Paul Neureuter, Krog’s President, described the firm’s plans for the Project. “We envision a multi-use building for professional offices, retail and food and beverage operations which will complement other businesses in the area and the Ice Arena,” Neureuter said.
The building will have a masonry exterior. It will be set back forty-five feet from Third Street, allowing good site lines to the Arena and an outdoor congregating area to encourage increased pedestrian usage. Krog plans to work with Habiterra Architects on the final design. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
When asked for his comments on the project, John Merino, Executive Director of the Gebbie Foundation, stated, “Jamestown is very fortunate to have had three (3) high caliber developers submit quality proposals for local officials to review. This shows the doable nature of the Urban Design Plan. It is this partnership of local businesses, government and private sector developers, committed to our downtown that will begin the Renaissance of our City.”
Kurt Johnson, owner and operator of Shawbuck’s, a nightclub located adjacent to the project location, is pleased with the development. “I was invited to participate early in the process to provide input as to my ideas, wants and needs,” he stated. “I feel that my comments were genuinely considered and my concerns were met and that the process was open and fair. I am very excited that the Krog project with BWB and the Vineyard Group as anchor tenants is going forward and truly believe that it will benefit all parties”, he added.
Both Krog and BWB expressed satisfaction with respect to the way that the project was handled by City officials. “It is our opinion that Mayor Teresi and the Department of Development team really did a fantastic job of handling this project in a fair, complete and expeditious manner”, said Krog’s Neureuter. “It was a pleasure working with the City’s Development Team to help drive the project to this point. They were knowledgeable, organized and efficient and should be commended for their efforts”, added Ms. Zabrodsky.
