Quality Control

Adjusting Our Sails for Your Success

At Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C. (BWB), each day we are faced with challenges. Thankfully, our history is rooted in doing business the right away. It was founded on integrity. More than 40 years later, we continue to hire and retain a team of CPAs, staff and business consultants who always, without question, ascribe to the highest professional standards. The public's trust and that of you, our client, is our No. 1 priority.

As a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS), we participate in a quality assurance program known as "peer review." We started our membership in 1986, when this program was voluntary. Today, peer review is mandatory for all CPA firms in public practice. Registered in multiple states including New York and Pennsylvania, BWB continuously seeks ways to improve the quality of our services through these tri-annual reviews. We are very proud of our most recent report, dated Dec. 1, 2014 and performed by Carlson Highland & Co., LLP, which is a "Pass" report with no findings in any of our peer reviews.

WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE US

  • We adhere to the highest professional standards. Professional standards issued by accounting and auditing standard setters are constantly changing and growing. At BWB, we seek to embrace these changes by understanding new developments and helping our clients implement standards when applicable. Our firm has many technical resources that we use every day to ensure our financial statement services are in accordance with the most current professional standards.
  • Our product is reliable and useful. Our goal is to provide our clients with deliverables that are more than just compliance exercises. We strive to add value in all our financial statement services to help you recognize not only where your organization has been, but where it is going.
  • Our quality control system. Our firm has embraced a quality control system that governs our audit and accounting practice. Our system includes policies and procedures over critical functional areas, including firm leadership, ethical obligations, human resources, engagement performance and quality control system monitoring.
  • Continuous education for our employees is a key factor. Our memberships in the AICPA and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants require an average of 40 hours per year of continuing professional education for all professionals, a standard we consistently meet or exceed.  Our continuing education courses are in technical areas as well as ethics and soft skills.
  • Involvement from the top. As a testament to our firm's knowledge and experience, two of our directors perform peer reviews of other unrelated CPA firms throughout the Northeast region of the U.S. In addition, one of our directors is a member of the New York State Society of CPA's Peer Review committee, which monitors and administers peer reviews throughout New York state.
